The design objective of the wear sleeve is to protect the internal working surfaces of the Subsurface Safety Valve (SSSV) during wireline operations in the context of ground-controlled tubing recovery. The wear sleeve is deployed prior to wireline operations, thereby eliminating damage to the grooved sealing faces of the SSSV. By isolating these grooves, it ensures the formation of a reliable seal during insertion. This sleeve also aids in reducing scale formation and protects the valve plate during wireline operations. Wear sleeves are typically designed for use under static, nonpressurized conditions.
